Pennant

Pennant Postponed

The Strzelecki Bowls Region Board met Friday 24th September 2021 and made the following decisions:

A proposed Pennant starting date of October 16th is extremely unlikely given the Government’s Community Sport be limited to practice only until 80% of Victoria’s 16-plus population is fully vaccinated with a target date of November 5th.

The Region Board will not be making any announcement on dates until there is more positive information available.
It is our intention to have a full 14 round season of Pennant with Bowls Victoria to announce date changes for their events which we can align with.

It is essential that Clubs complete their Club Singles Championships prior to Christmas to enable the Champions of Champions to be played in early January once Community Sport is resumed.

At the present time Clubs can open for practice under the current rules.
Community sport: outside only, training only. Minimum number required for the sport, no spectators.

As a guide Pennant practice within a Club is limited by the number of pennant teams they have. There is no provision for Club championships being played or practice matches against other Clubs.

Clubs conducting practice must ensure that the event is Covid compliant with players completing their QR code prior to play, wearing masks and keeping their distance from other players.

Clubs have a limit of 10 people within their Clubhouse. There is no provision for members to shelter from the weather in the Clubhouse.  Once practice is finished players should leave the venue unless they are taking refreshment in the relevant area of the Club which is limited to 20 patrons all seated outside or 10 inside.

Bowls Victoria have advised there is currently no requirement for bowlers to be vaccinated against Covid.  They do recommend that all bowlers become vaccinated as it may well become law that only vaccinated bowlers can enter licensed premises.

The Region Board is currently working on a set of Conditions for play during the forthcoming pennant season.

Bowlers and friends are encouraged to stay safe during these troubled times.
